This modern stained glass plant pattern is a Kauai stained glass design for a tropical plant, reminiscent of those you'd see on the island. It is a printable pattern, and 20% of all proceeds from the tropical leaves pattern series are donated to the Kaua'i museum in Lihue, Kaua'i. More details are below, including the significance of this pattern's name, Kealia.
ITEM: This listing is for a *digital pattern* and contains two different versions of the pattern - one is numbered, and one is clean, without numbering. This listing is only for the pattern so you can make your own stained glass suncatcher - no other materials are included.ย
LICENSING: This download includes both a hobby and commercial license. Patterns cannot be reproduced, published (other than printing for personal use), or shared. If you do sell your finished work, please give a credit to Noelle Barnes/GlassyRock Arts as the designer.
SIZING: Once completed, this piece measures 6โ wide and 10.25โ tall as printed on 8.5x11โ letter-sized paper.
MATERIALS REQUIRED: Glass, foiling tape, solder, the materials to solder them all together (flux, a soldering iron, etc.) and rings and chain for hanging.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner and beyond.
PATTERN SERIES: This pattern is part of a tropical leaves series with names based on some of the most beautiful places in Kauaโi, Hawaiโi, a place that has personal significance and meaning for me. This pattern is called Kealia. The Kealia Forest Reserve, on the northwestern, windward side of Kauai, was designated as a protected area in 1906. This preserve, along with its neighbor, the Moloaโa Forest Reserve, protect lush vegetation and a mountain ridge - home to the famous โHole-in-the-Mountainโ or โMonkey Mountain,โ a place of mythological significance for the Hawaiian people. It is important to me to both celebrate and honor Kauaโi and its heritage. To do that, I have chosen to donate 20% of all proceeds from the Tropical Leaves pattern series to the Kauaโi Museum, which strives to collect and preserve ancient artifacts and current artwork, and connect them to todayโs communities on the island. A hui hou, Joanne!
