This modern stained glass plant pattern is a Kauai stained glass design for a tropical plant, reminiscent of those you'd see on the island. It is a printable pattern, and 20% of all proceeds from the tropical leaves pattern series are donated to the Kaua'i museum in Lihue, Kaua'i. More details are below, including the significance of this pattern's name, Kalalau.
ITEM: This listing is for a *digital pattern* and contains two different versions of the pattern - one is numbered, and one is clean, without numbering. This listing is only for the pattern so you can make your own stained glass suncatcher - no other materials are included.
LICENSING: This download includes both a hobby and commercial license. Patterns cannot be reproduced, published (other than printing for personal use), or shared. If you do sell your finished work, please give a credit to Noelle Barnes/GlassyRock Arts as the designer.
SIZING: Once completed, this piece measures 6.5” wide and 10” tall as printed on 8.5x11” letter-sized paper.
MATERIALS REQUIRED: Glass, foiling tape, solder, the materials to solder them all together (flux, a soldering iron, etc.) and rings and chain for hanging.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner and beyond.
PATTERN SERIES: This pattern is part of a tropical leaves series with names based on some of the most beautiful and untouched places on Kaua’i, Hawai’i, a place that has personal meaning and significance for me. Kalalau, “to wander” or “the wanderer” in Hawaiian, is a familiar name to those who have visited the western coast of Kaua’i. It is the name of both the valley which was once home to thousands of ancient Hawaiians, and the rugged trail which now leads intrepid hikers to that otherworldly place. It is important to me to both celebrate and honor Kaua’i and its heritage. To do that, I have chosen to donate 20% of all proceeds from the Tropical Leaves pattern series to the Kaua’i Museum, which strives to collect and preserve ancient artifacts and current artwork, and connect them to today’s communities on the island. A hui hou, Joanne!

This project was a blast. I am fairly new to stained glass so I appreciate that the pattern and instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. It's a great project to use up small pieces of glass you have laying around. I am giving this butterfly as a gift and I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks Noelle!
